How do you order the L series lock with an ADA thumbturn?

Effective December 9, 2019, Schlage L Series mortise locks with a thumbturn will ship standard with our new ADA thumbturn. The new ADA thumbturn is slightly smaller than the existing design while still meeting ADA requirements.  Customers wishing to order the existing standard non-ADA thumbturn or larger ADA thumbturn, will be required to specify this requirement on their order. 

All functions except L9463 and L463:

  • Add L583-363 to the part number
    • 09-509 L583-363 for the turn only or L9453 07L 626 L583-363 with a lock
  • The L583-363 part number is an option and can not be ordered by itself and must be ordered with the lock or 09-509 (Basic) turn.

L9463 and L463:

***EXCEPTIONS to this new standard include the following***  Customers ordering an L Series lock requiring a thumbturn in 612 or 613 finishes will receive the larger ADA thumbturn (09-509 x L583-363) as standard.  The new ADA thumbturn is not available in 612 or 613.
*** EXCEPTIONS***  Customers ordering an L Series lock and specifying stated door thicknesses below, will receive the larger ADA thumbturn (09-509 x L583-363) as standard.

Sectional Trim – Thick Doors

·    Greater than 3-3/4” Extended Equally (EE)

·    Greater than 2-1/2” Extended Internally (EI)

Escutcheon Trim – Thick Doors

·    L Esc.: Greater than 3-1/4” Extended Equally (EE)

L & N Esc.: Greater than 2” Extended Internally (EI)
